Solo Singer · Theater Trier · Germany & Europe
Derek Rue · Solo Singer, Theater Trier
Derek grew up in Los Angeles, California, trained at the Universität Mozarteum Salzburg, and sang his early engagements at festivals including the Salzburg Festival. Today he is a solo singer at Theater Trier, with fifteen years on stage across Germany and Europe.
Somewhere along the way he noticed what happens when a performer with an opera voice steps outside the opera house. In a restaurant or a hotel ballroom there's no orchestra pit, no distance. People put down their forks. Conversations stop mid-sentence. And the guests who react most are the ones who'd never call themselves opera fans. That moment is why Opera Lux exists.
Every programme is planned personally with the host: which songs, when in the evening, how much the room can take. On the night Derek reads the guests and adjusts as he goes. A dinner for twenty and a gala for four hundred need very different evenings, and both get one built for them.
When you book Opera Lux, you're not booking an agency roster. You're booking Derek himself. He's based in the Moselle wine region and performs regularly across Germany and Luxembourg, and throughout Europe.

What Derek Brings
Derek watches the room and adjusts as the evening moves: softer while people talk, full voice when everyone leans in. Guests get greeted between sets, sung to at their tables, included in the evening.
Derek sings professionally year-round: lead roles at Theater Trier, concerts, and private events. He can fill a concert hall, or sing a few metres from your guests without overwhelming them. Live, every time.
Nessun Dorma next to Bring Him Home next to a Lehár waltz. Derek builds each programme with the host, around the occasion and the crowd.
No band, no long soundcheck, no stage build. Derek arrives with full equipment and professional orchestral backing, and the room stays yours.
A short conversation about your date and what would fit, with no commitment.
